Edo Queens have once again etched their name into Nigerian women's football history after emerging champions of the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership. The Benin-based club capped off a remarkable campaign with a series of outstanding performances that showcased determination, quality, and championship mentality.
Under the guidance of coach Moses Aduku, Edo Queens displayed consistency throughout the season. The team finished among the top sides in the regular season, losing only two matches and drawing two before advancing to the Super Six playoffs. Aduku's tactical discipline, attacking football, and ability to get the best out of his players proved crucial in the title race.
In the Super Six playoffs, Edo Queens rose to the occasion, recording key victories that placed them at the summit of the standings. Their crucial 2-1 victory over Rivers Angels strengthened their title ambitions, while a decisive showdown against Bayelsa Queens ultimately secured the championship.
Several players were instrumental in the club's successful campaign. Forward Vincent Precious delivered impressive performances in attack, while midfielder Atume Doosuur emerged as one of the league's most prolific scorers, registering 11 goals during the season and playing a vital role in Edo Queens' march to glory.
The team's defensive unit also deserves immense credit, with the backline providing stability and resilience in crucial matches. Their ability to grind out results against strong opponents demonstrated the character of a championship-winning side.
For coach Moses Aduku, the triumph further cements his reputation as one of the finest tacticians in Nigerian women's football. His leadership has transformed Edo Queens into one of the country's most respected clubs, following their historic 2024 league title and continued success on the national stage.
As celebrations continue across Edo State, the 2025/26 NWFL title stands as a testament to the hard work, dedication, and unity within the Edo Queens family. With another league crown secured, the Queens have once again proven that they are among the true powerhouses of Nigerian women's football.
