JOEL OGUNDEJI — A COACH WHO MADE HIS MARK AT ABS ILORIN

Coach Joel Ogundeji delivered a commendable performance during his time with ABS Ilorin FC, showcasing leadership, tactical discipline and a strong fighting mentality on the touchline.

His impact was particularly evident during the club’s challenging 2025/26 Nigeria National League (NNL) campaign, where he took responsibility of guiding the team through difficult moments. Under his leadership, ABS demonstrated resilience and determination, culminating in a crucial 1–0 victory over Sokoto United on the final day of the season — a result that helped the club secure its NNL status for another season.

Ogundeji’s contribution was not only about results but also about building team spirit and keeping his players focused under pressure. Earlier in the campaign, following a defeat to Lobi Stars, he praised his players for their discipline, determination and unity — qualities that became important characteristics of his side.

His work at ABS Ilorin has also earned him greater recognition within the club. Following a technical restructuring in July 2026, Joel Ogundeji was elevated to the position of Chief Coach, working alongside experienced tactician Festus Allen.

Beyond the results, the recognition of Joel Ogundeji in the NNL Team of the Week – Matchweek 15 further highlights his tactical influence and the respect he earned during the campaign.

From surviving a difficult NNL battle to earning a bigger role within ABS Ilorin’s technical structure, Joel Ogundeji’s journey reflects hard work, resilience and growing coaching credentials.
